PowerPoint supports .avi (too big), movie clip or .wmv. Convert video files. Try super or prism. Then insert .wmv videos to PPT.
PPT under Windows supports most common video formats apart from Quicktime, but I’m not sure about the high def stuff. I’m guessing you’ve got AVCHD footage from a Sony camcorder? If you’ve already got a video editor I’d use that.
