No, the senate and congress along with the supreme court would intervene.
Never happen! There’s this thing called the posse comitatus act that prevents such an occurance. (It’s the same act that was violated when the army sent tanks from Ft. Hood, Texas to Waco to kill the Branch Davidians).

Well, for one thing – it is not ‘his’ Army. And it cannot happen, it is the duty of every soldier to disobey and report any unlawful order. And general who attempted to give such an order would find himself relieved of duty and arrested.
The simple fact is that a few rouge people cannot take over the US military – there is simply too much real and unshakable belief in the US Constitution among the people who serve.
